Just a quick note to tell all of you who still read this thing… that I’ve succesfully rounded off my school placement today! It was great teaching them pupils for the past two months and I’m a bit sad to leave haha… so that’s a good and promising thing for next year’s placement when I have to teach fulltime for half a year most likely …

21. What a weekend :)

It was Easter this weekend. It was a nice and long weekend. 3 days off placement and school, what more to wish for? Oh.. well, you could of course also cellebrate your birthday during this weekend! It was my twenty-first birthday yesterday on Easter Monday, the 24th of March. Apparantly the next time these two events will occur at the same time, so that’s my birthday being on Easter Monday, will be in the year 2160, so that’s some time in the future.

I gave a sort of party this weekend on Easter Sunday and quite a lot of people managed to come all the way to Casa Mulders for a bite and a drink. I normally wouldn’t have held my birthday on a Sunday, but seeing that I’m always sooo busy, I had to compromise… And what a good choice it turned out to be! It was a great night, all of my friends were there, even a classmate who I thought couldn’t make it turned up and that made me smile . My girlfriend stayed for the weekend, so I was happy.

Back again, eh?

Almost a month ahs passed since my last post here. I’m seriously wondering if anyone actually still reads this blog… Probably not, it’s probably just me practicing my English haha.

Anyway, week 6 of school placement’s almost at an end. Only one day this week and the weekend’s arrived! And I’m looking forward to the weekend, cause it’s the weekend of my birthday! It’s my birthday on the 24th, which means I’m having a day off, cause it’s Easter Monday haha. Just pray that I don’t get a lot of theme gifts like bunny suits or whatever haha. I’ll be celebrating my 21st b’day this Sunday evening and I think it’ll be good. My girlfriend’s coming over for a few days and my friends will all be dropping by for some cake and a drink .

Week 3: Weekend and Placement

It’s week 3 of my school placement already. To think that before I went to England I was anxious about going teaching again, but now that I’ve been teaching for a bit longer than 2 weeks already, it sort of feels like a routine!

Week 3 started off with a wonderful weekend at home. My girlfriend Saskia came over for the weekend and we (us two and a bunch of my friends) went to see a band (Pilot Flame) perform live (release party of their debut album) in a bar in town. It was really entertaining and I had a chance to show off my girl *grin* . Really funny to see my friends already quite tipsy when we arrived, that certainly made a good first impression hahaha! Had the weekend to ourselves for the better part of it, which was perfect!

Had to go to school placement on Monday morning though, which meant I didn’t really get a chance to see my girlfriend off, but we said goodbye while she was still half asleep hahaha… I’ll make up for it this weekend haha.

A short message

Hello all!

I’m at school placement right now and don’t really have a lot to do, except perhaps correcting a few tests. I thought I’d update you on all the affairs going on around this place. Well, I gave a few lessons this week, which all went down pretty well, luckily. My school placement ‘instructor’ told me I had a really relaxed, yet serious attitude towards teaching these pupils and that there’s a good atmosphere in class. I haven’t had any problems with keeping order in class yet, so that’s a big difference compared to last year. Guess it really helps if you’re feeling comfortable! And I dress myself in a way that it shows that I’m selfconfident (really! ), hopefully this will have an effect on the pupils, but if it doesn’t… at least it makes me feel confident and in charge of the situation, which is what I’m after!
